TO ALL PARTICIPANTS AND GUESTS OF

ASIAN MOON FESTIVAL

As planners and volunteers from any of Milwaukee’s ethnic, church and community festivals will tell you, it takes countless hours of planning and work to put on a quality event for our audience. Volunteers literally start planning the next year’s event even before the gates close. To present anything less than our best would be unthinkable.

For 12 years, Asian Moon Festival has been proud to share the cultures of over 14 Asian ethnic groups at the spectacular Maier Festival Park. In 2005 many of our core members retired, moved from the area and in several cases, found new jobs that place heavy demands on their time. By the end of last year we realized that without the participation of these key people, putting on the event that people have come to expect would be difficult if not impossible. At the beginning of 2006 we made the difficult decision to cancel Asian Moon Festival for this summer.

We are hopeful that we can return in 2007 revitalized and fresh. We encourage you to check back with our web site in the near future for announcements regarding our festival. We also hope you will visit the many other festivals represented by United Ethnic Festivals of Milwaukee this summer.

We want to thank the volunteers, patrons, vendors, sponsors, Summerfest staff, our friends at the United Ethnic Festivals and the many Asian community groups for their support over the years.

Whether you're looking for the kohl-darkened eyes of the beautiful Indian dancers or the pounding of Taiko drums, Asian Moon Festival is the place to find it. Chinese fan dancers will mesmerize you with their serene, graceful performance. Musicians, magicians and storytellers share songs and stories of the far-away lands of Asia.

For over four thousand years, Asian healing practitioners have treated their patients using a variety of herbs, spices and techniques...many never introduced to Western culture. We are proud to bring exhibitors and demonstrators who will share healing practices based on ancient, Far Eastern knowledge.  Learn about Acupuncture, Henna, Thai Massage, Chinese Herbs, Ginseng and Tai Chi Chuan. It's an interactive and educational experience! Also enjoy traditional Asian performances on our intimate stages.

Who can resist the combined power and grace of martial arts experts as they break boards and bricks with their bare hands or move silently through complex movements like the Crane or the Snake? Asian Moon Festival offers demonstrations of Kickboxing, Kung Fu, Tae Kwon Do, Jujitsu, Aikido and other martial arts. Take in the grandeur of a traditional Judo Tournament.

Venture into the varied tastes, textures and fragrances of Asian cuisine. Each of our Asian restaurants features fresh vegetables and meats seasoned to tempt even the choosiest eater. Try spring rolls, samosa, pot stickers, and other delicacies. Come for the food, stay for the entertainment!
